On the 7th of September, we were lucky enough to be invited to the Spear’s 500 live event. A day that truly brings the world of Spear’s to life, offering a chance to hear from some of the expert spokespeople from the Spear’s 500 directory. The key topics from the day were chosen to give an insight into the global economy in 2022. Panel discussions covered Wealth Management, Super-prime Property, Succession Planning, Philanthropy and Luxury Assets.
The event was hosted at The Carlton Tower Jumeirah, a beautiful hotel in Belgravia, in association with The OWO Residences by Raffles. The OWO Residences is a stunning regeneration project in the Old War Office building. Centrally located on Whitehall close to St James’s Place, and designed by luxury designer Angel O’Donnell, the residence is the epitome of high-end London property; the perfect sponsor for the Spear’s 500 event.
The day started at 8am with a welcome breakfast and networking, followed by an organised speaker schedule through the day. Our client Camilla Dell from Black Brick Property, who is listed in the Spear’s 500 directory as one of the Top 10 London buying agents, was invited to be on the panel and speak about Prime Movers: the secrets of selling, buying and financing super-prime property. This talk ran from 10:30am to 11:15am. Camilla was joined by David Gwyther, Business Development Director at Butterfield Mortgages, Richard Rogerson CEO, at RFR Property, Neal Hudson, Director at Residential Analysts Ltd. And Alec Marsh, Contributing Editor at Spear’s, who acted as the panel host.
The panel discussed an array of property related topics from the super-prime market. The expert speakers opened the conversation, offering advice on how to maximise the sale price in high-end property when there is a need for discretion. They also spoke about financing super-prime property, the continued rise in interest rates, demand for property in PCL and looking ahead at the market. Camilla Dell explained how buyers in Prime Central London looking for a four or five-bedroom property with a garden, will not be able to find anything for less than £10 million. The talk gave an insightful take on the current property market, offering a range of perspectives from the panel. Camilla memorably stated that Mayfair has become more popular than Knightsbridge, “I think we’ve definitely seen — I’m going to whisper it — Knightsbridge fall out of favour. Mayfair used to not be desirable at all but has now outmanoeuvred Knightsbridge.”
The turbulent and unpredictable nature of the market at the moment made for a particularly interesting discussion as the panel shared their, sometimes conflicting, thoughts and assessments of prime property. Chanel Bailey, Founder and Managing Director at Elevate PR explains, “As always Spear’s were fantastic hosts and Spear’s 500 Live did not disappoint. It was great to be back enjoying face-to-face speaker events, especially with Camilla joining the ‘Prime Movers’ panel. It was very informative to hear from the experts on the future of the property market.”
